Global Brigades is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit headquartered in Fresno, CA that began in 2008. Global Brigades implements a Holistic Model in rural communities where a general lack of resources and opportunities exist. They are seeking financing for working capital for program expansion.
Global Brigades uniquely implements a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. They work to address a number of problems including the absence of water and sanitation infrastructure, scarcity of regular and affordable healthcare services and lack of access to basic financial services such as savings and loans. Their model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably transitioning to a relationship of impact monitoring. Impact gathering is measured at a community level, each step of the way, as well as before and after the Holistic Model is implemented. An Empowered Community is one that has reached their goals and now have the infrastructure, knowledge, leadership and economic capacity to continue growing.
The proceeds from this loan will provide Global Brigades with the capital needed to expand its experiential learning programs. These programs are purchased by universities and high schools for students to gain real world experience in their area of study. We have the capacity to scale and grow, and ultimately, increase the organization’s impact in the communities it serves. The end goal is lifting millions of people out of poverty and inspire thousands of more students into the work.
The loan will be repaid from the revenue to be generated by the experiential learning programs. A school will pay on average $4,000 for one of our virtual programs and $50,000 for our in-person travel programs. This spin-off is now earning more than $1.5M in revenue and is set to grow by 50% next year with the support of this loan to hire additional sales and marketing staff.
Global Brigades is an internationally recognized international development organization that empowers communities by collaborating with community partners, local staff, and volunteers. Their goal is to enable these communities to rise permanently out of poverty.
Program expansion will allow Global Brigades to double the number of student volunteers in the high school and university faculty-led segment over the next three years. This will lead to thousands more being benefited with access to healthcare services (such as physicals, vision screenings, and dental treatments), the support of water & sanitation infrastructure and business consultations.
