Bulamu currently provides its medical services, staff training, and modern hospital management system at 128 health facilities in 8 Ugandan local government districts. Maternal and child health is a major clinical focus, where the needs are great and the payoff huge.

Use of Proceeds: Equipment Purchases
Equipment purchases: a vehicle to transport staff and supplies to various districts in Uganda; durable medical equipment e.g. a portable ultrasound machine.
When her local health center had no sutures in stock, Bulamu’s Clinical Support Team stepped in to ensure Grace received the emergency C-section she needed.
Why support this program?
COVID restrictions have at times eliminated use of public transportation, a major way staff travel to/from outlying districts in Uganda. Private vehicles such as the one to be purchased by Bulamu are permitted.
Many of the health centers in rural districts in Uganda lack critical medical equipment like an ultrasound machine to diagnose pregnant women in distress. Bulamu will be able to address this need with equipment like a portable ultrasound machine.
At five months old, Archivan had a growth requiring surgery that his family could not afford. The Bulamu Surgery Intensive team removed the tumor and provided the subsequent lab tests confirming that it was not malignant.
Bulamu’s HCE Program is a comprehensive hospital/clinic management system designed to improve patient care at public health facilities, while also raising staff productivity through closer performance monitoring.
